G+_David Herron
To the question on the last AAA show about the missing navigation icon: I don't know why it's disappearing on some phones (mine still has it) but just use voice search. If the complaint is that it's taking too long or you can't find it in the new Maps app, just tap the Google voice search microphone and say "Navigate to..." That's less steps anyway. G+_Raymond Johnson
I'm not sure if somebody mentioned this elsewhere, but I thought I read that if you had the Navigation icon in a folder, it stayed in the folder. If it was just on a homescreen or in an app drawer, it went away. But you're right about the speed of voice search for this function.
G+_Mark Lanigan
My wife and I in UK have Note2 we lost both maps and navigation icons from our home screens. The new maps app was sitting in our app drawer and had to be moved back. But oddly not on my Nexus 7.............?
G+_Michael Honey-Arcement
I had mine in a folder and on the lockscreen and it stayed. On certain lauchers (like nova launcher) you can add it as a shortcut to the navigation activity under maps
