G+_Andre Klärner
A quick question. Why is Google now available on iOS and not on phones running ice cream sandwich. I have an older phone and have no legitimate reason to update to a newer phone. Couldn't Google put it into search like they did on iOS. Any info would be great. G+_Mathew Partridge
Google now is in the search app for android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox if you can't download that app you could try rooting the phone and then side loading the Google search app. Really if you have ics you should be able to run google now. G+_R.C. Curtright
Mathew Partridge follow that link and you will see that the apps own description says that Now is available for 4.1 and above. Len Devoe it is odd isn't it. Two things come to mind. 1) Its a carrot they can use to keep OEMS from putting out phones with older versions of Android. 2) Perhaps has to do with the OS framework. Perhaps some newer better way of polling the servers constantly without eating up battery and data. The iOS app if I am not mistaken isnt up to date minute by minute, but does a quick sync when you open it right??
G+_Mathew Partridge
Gah R.C. Curtright epic fail! I hang my head in shame for such sloppy research.
G+_Michael Conrad
Google Now for iOS is also limited. ?But yes, it should be available on ICS.
G+_Marlon Thompson
For those who are brave and bold http://techcrunch.com/2012/07/06/hooray-google-now-gets-ported-from-jelly-bean-to-ice-cream-sandwich/
G+_Len Devoe
Marlon Thompson I'm neither brave nor bold. Lol. I've attempted to root a few times but kept getting frustrated and gave up. Honestly I think it's OK the way it is on iOS and if that's what they did for ICS I'd be fine with that. Thanks everyone for the info
