G+_Lennard Harris
I think if they keep this under $300 I'd probably pick one up #amazon #kindlefirehd #snapdragon800 http://www.androidincanada.ca/android-tablets/the-next-kindle-fire-hd-will-be-packing-the-snapdragon-800/
G+_George Fromtulsa
There was a rumor on the 'net today that an "Amazon" device with Snapdragon 800 had been logged on a website. The rumor I read cautioned that it is easy to spoof specs and device attribution. It is possible that Amazon could market such a device. The other specs on the one discussed sounded a lot like the current Nexus 10. Amazon wants to become much bigger in gaming, and gaming is the most of what sells in APPS. But as the owner of a Kindle Fire HD, which I use to access Amazon content, I caution it isn't very good as a general use tablet. That's because it is locked down, won't permit most Google's Apps to run without rooting. Same problems will afflict a very high end Kindle Fire, unless Amazon unlocks its custom Android, and loses that horrid carousel home screen. G+_Android in Canada Blog
George Fromtulsa Thanks for the heads up. I know those benchmarks can easily be manipulated and faked but it seems plausible for Amazon to release a new tablet this year. I agree that the Amazon UI isn't good for people looking for a full fledged tablet experience but the XDA devs always make way to change that up :)
G+_George Fromtulsa
"She who must be obeyed" and I both have Kindle Fire HDs. We use them as Kindles, the Amazon Text to Speech is quite good. And for Amazon Video, Netflix, and not much more. I have Firefox sideloaded on mine. Works quite well, including Add Ons. But won't update, so every new version has to be sideloaded over. Some Google Apps work. Others don't. I've not rooted, because my use for the HD is Amazon-centric, and some of the Amazon stuff may go bye bye with a root canal. Here's a good source, if you're interested, a Kindle book on how to take over your Kindle from Amazon: Kindle Fire HD Guide: Google Apps, Play Store, Rooting, Launchers, and More! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D80I27C/ref=pe_245070_24466410_M1T1DP
