G+_John B
Being that the Nexus 5X missed the battery boat "again" I would have to agree with you. When are phone makers going to get it. Fuck 4K screens, we want an all day battery at the very least... Sick and tired of the battery bullshit.
G+_Marlon Thompson
Nope I don't want that, Google is not a hardware company. Stick to your core mission. Their is a lot more about hardware than simply designing and building the devices. They can't even get project ara off the ground. Chromecast and the Pixel are edge cases where internal design and production works, a cellphone is totally different.
G+_Pablo Pascal
I think the LG Nexus 5X is a good example of why Google needs to make its own devices. LG needs to sell its own flagship device (the G4) and as such it insists on hobbling the partner device. Huawei, OTOH, needed to make a splash stateside. So they were more than happy to oblige Google. That's my hunch about these two 2015 Nexus devices.

G+_Tyler Larson
Google does make its own hardware. That's what the "pixel" brand is.
G+_John B
I think the people on this thread are referring to phones not laptops...But you are correct in the fact that the pixel is a gorgeous piece of hardware, so why don't they do it in phones?? G+_Tyler Larson
They just created a pixel tablet ("Pixel C"). But the justification may not be there for creating their own phone. The Nexus line is made to Google's exact specifications without Google having to do all the production work, which is is kind-of the best of both worlds. G+_L I
The problem with this as always is that the current business model of Android will not work if Google decides to build their own phones. It's not as easy as these pundits make it seem like it is. Google isn't a phone maker and would have to slog through all the agreements and arrangements with manufacturers in China, with distributors worldwide, with carriers worldwide. If Google made its own phones you can almost guarantee that right out of the gate they would get almost no traction and would be US only, meanwhile Samsung and others might plow ahead with alternatives and use that to take market share. If for sure would not be as profitable as it is now. Google isn't Apple.
