When they announced it in 2007!  ;-)

I've been on Android since it was first released.  I switched from Verizon to get the T-Mobile HTC G1 (Dream) on Day 1.  Then, a little over a year later, I switched back to Verizon to get the Original (OG) Motorola Mobility Droid on Day 1.  Then, I waited past my contract to get the Samsung Mobile Galaxy Nexus on Day 1.  Finally, I couldn't resist, and I got the Samsung Mobile Galaxy Note II, again, on Day 1.  (Notice a trend).

I really love the configurability and extensibility of Android, as well as the custom ROM community (such as CyanogenMod and AOKP).  There have been some hiccups along the way, but nothing I couldn't overcome.

What about you?

My first smartphone was a (disgusting) Droid 2. I survived on that pathetic thing till I was eligible for an upgrade, when I got my Galaxy S3, which I have now. I never wanted an iPhone because for me it's too limited. And Windows & Blackberry & whatever else - totally out of the question. The Windows Phone interface I just don't get.

Totally love my GS3. :-) ?

A couple of years ago, I was using a Windows Mobile 5 phone because my company was setting up an Exchange server. That never materialized and we started using Google Apps for Business. Then, when my phone started falling apart I decided to go with Android because of Google Apps. I had my contacts, email and calendar loaded up on my phone before left the store. I've been an Android enthusiast since.

I had been a Sprint customer for over a decade. I had a bunch of Windows Mobile phones going all the way back to the Hitachi G1000. I didn't make it over to Android until June of 2011 because I had a sweet retention plan and Sprint refused to allow an Android phone on that plan. So reluctantly I finally gave up the plan for Android. I also however also gave up on Sprint. Sprint's tactless way of handling a long time customer has solidified the fact that I will never be a customer of theirs again.

I remember reading about android being developed. I assumed Google would do good with an open source OS. I didn't pay much attention to android phones since I didn't use a cellphone. Then, about November 2009, my wife and I wanted to get on our friends Verizon plan. Conveniently it was when the droid1 came out. So when I learned I could use it for games and apps I was sold. I don't make many phone calls. It was our Christmas presents to each other. I got a free Droid shirt for being one of the first buyers. Ive been a fanboy ever since. I was a beta tester for gmail and chrome OS.

After what I call dumb phones started not being enough due to wanting something that was better than just a call and text device. Samsung Instinct interested me with its separate take on the iPhone layout but I wanted more. So when I found out I was going to be a dad in 2009, I saved up and got a Samsung Moment and never looked back. +Android had me at first sight. Now end of the year is my new phone time frame and I'm looking forward to the new features.
