G+_Kevin Spitzer (JaguarXT
What do you mean by upgrading your Galaxy S3? Do you mean upgrade the Android OS in your Galaxy S3 like OTA updates? Or are you thinking of getting a new Android device like Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note 3? ?

G+_Kevin Spitzer (JaguarXT
If you are thinking of upgrading the Android OS like Android 4.3 without OTA updates then you will need to root your device or wait for the OTA update. Are you comfortable with rooting? That may answer your question. Personally I am waiting for the Android 4.3 OTA update first for my Galaxy Note 2 then use the root66 stock root rom to upgrade my Galaxy Note 2 to Android 4.3. I like the Samsung features stuff and T-Mobile WiFi calling too much to use an AOSP Android rom. ? You lose some of the manufacturer's, like Samsung's, features and some carrier's features when you use an AOSP Android rom. Each has their own choice of what they want to do. That is part of the power of Android. ?
G+_Kevin Spitzer (JaguarXT
Stock roms and stock root roms preserve the manufacturer's features and carrier's features. But all stock roms only come after the manufacturer's release of the update. AOSP Android roms don't include some of the manufacturer's features and some of the carrier's features. With AOSP Android roms you can get updates before the manufacturer releases their updates. Either way you will need to root. And you will need to use a rom built for your Galaxy S3 version. Using a rom for a different Galaxy S3 version can soft brick or even hard brick your device. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com site and look under your version of Galaxy S3 for more information, help, how to and roms?. ?
