G+_Kevin Britain
Hey hive mind! I'm wondering if theres an app for this scenario; when I get onto my home wifi, I want my phone to automatically backup any new photos & videos with my home pc wirelessly. I don't want it to have to go through an intermediary service like sugarsync (unless theres a setting I'm not finding), just directly from the phone to the pc over my network. G+_John Mink
I think the general idea is rsync, but i haven't found a good app. Also, having it prompt you may be a good idea.
G+_Julie Wills
You could use Tasker (or possibly Llama or similar) to detect that you're on your home Wi-Fi and initiate a backup.
G+_John Mink
Julie Wills how would you write the script to transfer the files? I know there's a million examples online of "if connected to this WI-FI then... " ?
G+_Julie Wills
I haven't really thought it through (I'm happy using Dropbox) . Off the top of my head, the easiest way would probably be to have Tasker/Llama create a "start backup" file (or maybe write a timestamp into such a file) on the PC via a network share, with the phone sharing its file system so the PC can see it. Then have the PC use the existence of the file / updated timestamp as a trigger to pull the files updated since the last backup. That way all the scripting can be done at the PC end. I don't have any specific suggestions for apps for the phone end of this.?

G+_Gary A Hanson
William Cheng mahalo, I looked at syncme the other day, but wasn't aware of sweet home. I'll have to give both a try.

G+_Eric Weeks
Bittorent sync uses your internet connection but there is no middle man. Your files/photos/videos go straight from your phone over the internet to your computer, and you can set it to only upload on wifi. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bittorrent.sync
G+_Brian Walling
I use Pogo plug for this. While I have an physical pogo plug, I think you can set up a virtual one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pogoplug.android
G+_Alex Østergaard Hansen
Gary A Hanson I use Foldersync. It lets me upload to NAS as well as cloud services. Don't know if it can be set to run on connecting to your home wifi though. I've just set it to upload once daily, which is enough for me even though I take lots of pictures!
