Something I'd love to see talked about on the show: most people I know have their phone on a multi-year contract, and after the first year the "Trapani Effect" becomes noticeable (i.e. updates and bug fixes take a back seat to the support given to newer devices).  It would be interesting to compare various brands based on support of their devices that are over 12 months old.

Perhaps not exactly what you want but there's a lot of good info compiled in J. R. Raphael's Android Update Report Card series here: http://www.computerworld.com/article/2476223/android/android-upgrade-report-card--kitkat--six-months-later.html

The original KitKat post was exactly a year ago (+1 day) and the follow up was six months after.

On a personal note, I'm still bitter that my Nexus 7 2012 3G had serious wakelock power drain issues from day one. Through long threads in AOSP bug forums and the wonderful JBQ's participation in troubleshooting, the proprietary modem drivers were deemed responsible for the issue and therefore out of scope for AOSP.

Unfortunately Google never saw fit to address it in future releases. I'll be quick to exchange any device with issues like this in the future since I've learned the hard way that even Google can orphan devices immediately after they're sold.
