G+_Adam Torborg
Do Credit Cards in the US not have NFC in them? With regards to the discussion about Apple Pay perhaps being the only NFC that shops might accept, I would be VERY surprised if that happens in the UK and Europe. I have 3 Credit Cards and a Debit card, which have all had NFC built in for Contactless Payment for at least 2 years. More and more shops are accepting contactless. I think most card readers these days have the contactless element built in to them. If shops started going Apple only, they would also close of all those credit cards? I doubt they'd want to do that...
G+_Joe Phelps
Very few cards in the US have NFC. Apple Pay will be added to existing terminals as an added option. There will probably be no merchant that only accept Apple Pay.
G+_Joseph Cappellino
I agree with Joe Phelps. I haven't watched the episode yet (I'm a little behind), but AFAIK, Apple Pay is piggy backing off existing technology (i.e. - MasterCard PayPass, Visa PayWave, etc), and there would never be an Apple Pay only terminal. This is the same for Google Wallet. It implements MasterCard PayPass, so it is available wherever those terminals exist.
