G+_Marlon Thompson
Help Needed AAA crew: Kids apps Hey crew I need some help and I hope Jason Howell chimes in as well because I know he faces this. My sister in law's mother wants to buy a tablet, an ipad mini, for her granddaughters (8, 6 and 4). However my sis-in law is now firmly an Android fangirl because of me (yes .. thank you.. thank you) and wants her to get either a Nexus 7 or Galaxy tab 7. I kinda agree with her mother as much as it pains me because I know there are way more great kid focused apps on iOS than there is on Android. So I need some good app recommendation for children apps. Please help
G+_Jason Howell (raygun01)
Honestly my first reaction is that yes, ios likely has better offerings right now for kids. Any of the games that I've gotten for my daughter are fine for an almost 3 year old so I'm not sure how old the kids are that you are talking about. Talking Tom Cat (and all associated talking friends apps. We have them all and my daughter loves them, though even at $1, they surface strange pop up ads that are annoying to say the least.) Monkey Preschool Lunchbox (love this one!) OmBooks (interactive books, Dr seuss, Berenstain bears, etc) I know there are more that I have yet to discover but that is a start. If you find good ones, let me know! ?

I will check out Monkey preschool lunchbox.
G+_Russ Clark
I have a 4 and 6 year old, they use my Nexus 7 and love it. I use Kid Mode to protect them and my CC from installing anything, buying anything or changing settings. I really liked Dr. Panda's Animal Hospital, Angry Birds is a hit too, Color and Draw is great for when you want a coloring book like experience, The Dr. Seuss books from Oceanhouse Media are great for those that cannot read or are learning as it will read to you and highlight the words and Fruit Ninja is fun and will help with accurate touches. G+_Russ Clark
You bet, I'll be very interested to see other suggestions as I am always looking for more great apps.
G+_Jason Howell (raygun01)
And just a heads up that you can turn on the requirement for your Google password whenever an app purchase is fired off... Check your settings in the Play store app. I have that activated to prevent inadvertent app purchases... Particularly cause devs like to have those in-app purchase links in there. ? G+_Aaron Weintraub
We have a nexus 7 and an ipad, and the ipad seems much better for kids. Kids and older adults, that's what we've been saying about ios eh? ;-)
G+_Jason Howell (raygun01)
Russ Clark thanks for the Tribe Play recommendation. Their games are top notch!
G+_Russ Clark
I was very impressed, you will have to let me(us) know if you(your daughter) find some of the other games enjoyable. I found Dr. Panda because it was on sale in the Play Store. There is another coloring app (it is closer to paint) that you can make anything you want, I am pretty sure Jason Howell showed it off in an episode, I cannot remember the name for the life of me though.
