Samsung keeping up with the updates

This is a quote from The Verge when they reviewed the Galaxy S3 way back in June of last year.

One thing that goes consistently overlooked with respect to Samsung’s phones is the company’s ignominious track record with Android software updates. There may be worse offenders out there, but Samsung’s chronic failure to update its devices on time (or at all) is a significant black mark for a brand looking to lead the way in almost every other respect. Thus, as much as I may enjoy the Galaxy S III today, I have to temper that enthusiasm with the knowledge that its long-term future may not be as rosy as that of a stock Android device or one produced by HTC.

Now we are seeing that just 4 months after 4.2 was released it has leaked for the Galaxy S3 http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/02/22/first-leak-of-touchwiz-ified-4-2-1-shows-up-for-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-i9300/. Kudos to Samsung for proving a ton of people wrong.

Andrew Melder considering the situation used to be between over a year to never for android updates from manufacturers I think it is extremely positive (and I did mention it was a leak but we have seen Samsung move very quickly from leaks to final builds in the last few months). The fact is updates will never be as fast as they are on the nexus program because the manufacturers have to move most of their developers off of old products onto the new products. But it is also important to remember that no nexus device will ever sell as much as a flagship phone from Samsung at this point.but I think Samsung deserves some credit for stepping up their game when we used to see tons of blogs 2 years ago condemning them. I am an enthusiast and I care about updates but to be honest the general public doesn't care. But still when I recommend phones to friends I find myself saying get a Samsung. I wish HTC and the others would now step it up
