G+_Marlon Thompson
Quick Review: Dragon Box+ On TWIT 394 Brian Brushwood mentioned an app called DragonBox + that teaches algebra in a fun way. Being a former teacher I was in interested to see just how good it was and decided to fork out the $6 (yep it ain't cheap) to try it out. The premise of the "game" is to get the dragon box alone on one side by using different way of eliminating the other cards. Opposite cards eliminate each other, you learn that if you put one card one one side you have to put it on the other and as you go along more difficult algebraic concepts are thrown at you until the cards are replaced with numbers and letters and the the box is replaced with just an x, so you solve for x (go figure) . I highly recommend this game and it is simple enough that a 6 or 7 year old can begin to grasp these concepts. I hope this is the beginning of many apps from this developer and I wold love to hear if any practicing teachers are using apps and programs like these in their classroom. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wewanttoknow.DragonBoxPlus&feature=md
