Jason Howell I am throwing this into the mix of our ongoing debate on Stock android vs OEM versio...

Recommended Posts

While I'm not a huge fan of OEM overlays personally (and it doesn't really matter cause it's all about personal preference anyways), I prefer stock. Having said that, I gotta say, I agree with the lack of a desire to chase the updates/flashing/etc. I simply don't care about it as much as I did when I was running a phone that NEEDED those elements to improve or make up for poor performance in other areas.

More and more I lean towards wanting a new phone that I can keep clean. Retain the security of the device, and stick to stock out of the box. I hardly tap into the elements of my phone that require rooting anyways these days.

But that can always change!

Thanks for posting!

No probs Jason Howell and I feel the same way. There are two things in this article that really resonate with me. When I had my original Galaxy S I was putting a new rom on it almost every other week partially inspired by a tall dude who had an Android podcast and partially because I was really trying to get the experience I craved. Since I got my S3 last year I haven't had that yearning. The second point is I fear that the S4 and HTC google experience may not be the best, I wonder if the tweaks that Samsung optimised for the snapdragon processor and how HTC tweaked their software for beats audio and the ultrapixel camera, impact the overall experience.`
