G+_Marlon Thompson
Some advice for HTC, don't listen to the crowd (image courtesy The Verge) Since Google I/O and the reveal of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Experience/Nexus phone there have been calls far and wide for HTC to do the same. Rumors have been flying around the internet that HTC is going to do it and even Mike Elgan says he would switch if they would do it. And who can blame them, look at the phone its gorgeous and all the cool kids say that metal is better than plastic, and everyone loves the underdog right. WRONG! HTC I am begging you ignore all those persons who say they will pay cost price for an HTC one Nexus phone, trust me they won't. Focus on getting your act together, lets get some profit rolling in and then only then are you going to even think about it. Why am I so opposed to this idea. Simple, nexus phones are not mainstream phones, as much as we love to talk about them and how great they are, various reports said that by February 2013 only 1 million nexus 4 phones were sold. How is HTC making a nexus/Google experience phone which is going to compete in the same space as the S4, the nexus 4 and maybe even a new Nexus going to help them. Secondly availability, Samsung kills it because they have the markets, and they have the marketing budget. Successful phones are the ones that can get into the hands of the consumers. In my country we were part of the worldwide launch for the S4. I could have gotten one in my hand that weekend. Everywhere I turn I see a Samsung phone, do you know how many HTC phones I see... zero. Now I'm not saying we are a huge market but Samsung has determined we are an important one. And the fact is I can't buy an HTC one here and I don't even think the average american consumer knows about the Play store to get the nexus devices. So here is the thing HTC lets focus I know you may be tempted but please listen to reason. Double down and focus we can get through this, its going to be rough but you can do it. And please everyone else give HTC a break. /end of rant
