G+_Marlon Thompson
Anyone who follows me knows that this was my feeling for a while, so glad that the rest of you are now catching up. Granted its still early days, but I am having reservations about this project since Google will not be handling the updates. G+_Russ Clark
I think this hit exactly what most of us have talked about and wanted. A pure Android experience. Would it have been nice if Google were doing the updates, sure, but if you're in the market for either of these phones you can get the Nexus 4. The GE phones are without Samsung and HTC bloat (although I hear the One has the Sense framework still), updates should come to these devices before their non-GE brethren due to the fact that the will not need to make Sense or TouchWiz work with the new framework changes. I am not sure why people are so upset by getting what we had been screaming for. We got, arguably, the two best devices running near stock, if not stock, Android. If I were on a carrier that supported these phones I would be voting with my money saying to HTC and Samsung that there is a market out there for Stock Android devices. Sadly I will have to keep using my Galaxy Nexus because Verizon did such a poor job working with Google.
G+_Jo Welde
THe HTC blog (http://blog.htc.com/2013/05/htc-one-google-nexus-experience/) says "Out of the box, this special edition HTC One will run Android 4.2.2 with subsequent software updates provided by Google." So now I'm confused.
G+_Russ Clark
+Jo Welde Yeah, that is contradictory, right from play.google.com they use ambiguious language: "The Google Play edition phones automatically receive updates of the latest Android software."
