G+_Marlon Thompson
I am hearing a lot of people complaining about the Galaxy Gear only being compatible with Samsung Galaxy phones, so what. You think the iwatch is going to work with any phone but the iPhone I think not. Is it a strong strategy, maybe not. But people also said the note was doomed to fail. And on the Note 3 I think Samsung showed today that they own the phablet space much to the chagrin of LG. It seems iterative but for me the Note 3 is a very strong device and a worthy upgrade for Note 1 and note 2 owners. It is low on the crapware and high on the useful features and power. Just my 2 cents
G+_Mark Scholes
The point for a lot of people picking android is choice, obviously Samsung disagrees, as they've attempted to replicate all of Google's services, badly.
G+_Jeff Idol
The only reason I am disappointed it only works on the Samsung phones is that prevents me from really using their cool looking watch. I guess I'll just wait a bit longer. Hoping Google comes out with a nexus watch.
G+_Marlon Thompson
But Mark Scholes Samsung has already made it clear they are all about their ecosystem, and I find S health is the only app that is well implemented and the gear will take advantage of that. G+_Marlon Thompson
But who says it's wrong for Samsung. Android is a business for them the only way they can maximise their profits is to control the entire ecosystem, apple has proved that. Is it my concept of Android, no will the strategy prove profitable, I think so.
G+_Lucas Nichols
I don't mind that it only works for Samsung devices. This early in the smart gear game it's going to be buggy as heck and I'd rather them focus on making it work with their own products than trying to make it work on hundreds of devices. And it's not like Samsung is the only one making a smart watch either. So if u don't like it, don't buy it. Every other smart phone company has their own special things that only their devices can do. Why should samsung be any different. In the end the consumer loses, but that's the way it's always been and will be when it comes to big businesses. And with Samsungs over whelming lead in the smart phone industry it can only be a good decision for Samsung.
G+_Brad Veenvliet
Early devices are going to have serious bugs and/or limitations no matter what type of wearable device you are talking about. My advice would be to wait and see. There will be much better wearable gear in the near future. I wear a watch and I'm not rushing to get one even though I have a Samsung phone.
