Apologies to Jeff Jarvis  for stealing this but

The number of the day folks is 98, yes 98% of Google Play revenue comes from Freemium apps

So guess what the trend of freemium apps isn't going away any time soon because you people seem to love it. I usually loathe apps with in-app purchases though I have enjoyed Plants vs Zombies 2 for the past several months and have not spent a dime. Currently I may play a couple of times a day (just to get the daily reward) and I have beaten all the levels all the garden slots, have over $100, 000 of the coins and over 100 gems.

Edit  I just read through the report and it points to very positive signs for Google Play (more of which we should hear at Google i/O) What I found interesting was that apps outs side of games accounted for 60% of the downloads with communication and social apps making the biggest rise. (social apps usually dominate on iOS). Brazil and Mexico, 2 countries Motorola specifically targeted made big jumps in downloads. Asian markets love to spend money on in- app purchase. All in all good news for app developers. Jason Howell  check out the report.

Because I buy and  download a lot of apps, I have a few rules for if and when I will do an IAP. Because of my short attention span, if I am still playing your game a few months in I usually kick in a few bucks the devs way. Because I know a few indie devs  I  tend to support  them more than big name publishers. Certain devs who I think are pushing Android forward always get my support like Shifty Jelly Koushik Dutta and Chris Lacy
