G+_Marlon Thompson
I really appreciated Myriam Joire thoughts on the nexus 9 last night and on the overall state of tablets . Sometimes the hard truths need to be stated and I love that she isn't shy about saying it.. Myriam Joire I hope you have the time to be back on AAA as often as you can. G+_Tony Nolen
I can't wait to judge for myself. I just received a "sorry" email from Amazon. I was supposed to receive my Nexus 9 today. My updated delivery info should be received later today.
G+_Tony Brooks
Giving someone who openly admits they don't use tablets a Nexus 9 to review is like asking a vegetarian to review the local steakhouse.
G+_Marlon Thompson
Tony Brooks I disagree, she can still judge the device on its merits, since she is tech reviewer. She chooses not to use tablets, but she has used and reviewed quite a few.
G+_Tony Brooks
Then she should be aware of the fallacy that there are few android tablet optimised apps. There are plenty, but in Android there is less of distinction between phones and tablet. A good Android apk can look great on any device if developed correctly. http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html iOS tends to have separate apps for tablet and phone, so it's easier to identify the "tablet optimised" apps and assume there are many more. Plus, one major advantage of the Nexus 9 over the iPad is you don't have to go anywhere near iTunes which basically trumps all arguments anyway. G+_Marlon Thompson
And Tony Brooks thats the point there are too many lazy developers who do not optimise their apps while on ipad there are many. Not having enough tablet optimised apps leads to a bad experience and makes the user consider a bigger phone rather than a 9inch android tablet or in fact just get an ipad (shudder). as such it is a knock not so much against android but at developers but at the end of the day it makes the app ecosystem suffer. On the other hand I think we should highlight those devs who do it right. A great example is cross DJ (which I prefer of Djay2 ) look at the following link at how beautiful it scales from phone to 7 inch tablet to 10inch tablet http://www.djtechtools.com/2013/12/05/cross-dj-the-first-pro-dj-app-on-android/ and its a music app, To challenge the perception that there are no really good Tablet music apps on Android I may highlight some here over the weekend.
