With all the Apple FBI thing and Ron's choice of Telegram last week and viewing some comments on the poll, I decided to dig a little deeper into the app and how secure it is. First up is this Steve Gibson episode of security Now from 2014 where Steve talks about his uncertainty about Telegram https://www.grc.com/sn/sn-444.htm . BTW Jason Howell it would be great to hear if Steve still has these reservations. But we also have the EFF giving a breakdown of messaging clients with telegram's secret chats feature getting top billing https://www.eff.org/secure-messaging-scorecard .

I know some people are going to hate me but I think some time should be devoted on Tuesday's show to talk about the Apple issue. The fact is on Android things are different, all the FBI would have needed if it was an Android phone was the users gmail password (which Google would have given them with a court order) as they just had to guess the pin wrong a few times and they would have been presented with the dialog box. Also what is the state of encryption. I know have it enabled on my Nexus device but it's not the default on millions of Android phones. I certainly didn't read any coverage of security or encryption from the MWC keynotes. So I have to ask is it important how much do we care.

Just asking

edit Thanks to Ian Wilkinson for the info here is Steve giving an update on Telegram last December, he is still not keen on it https://www.grc.com/sn/sn-538.htm
