G+_Frank Gibson
Coding 101 has inspired me, and sent me off down a rabbit hole of education. I got a bit intimidated and/or frustrated by the giant IDE full of confusing options I don't understand, and decided to go learn another language before trying C#. I learned JavaScript from the codecademy website (which I highly recommend to noob codemonkeys), and then I decided to try Java about 2 weeks ago. Java, it turns out, is really really hard for me to get a handle on, but I have been persevering in the face of difficulty, and slowly making progress. I just compiled and ran my first multi-class Java program from the Windows command line a few minutes ago , and I am so stoked right now, I had to share it with the folks who nudged me onto this path. I have deviated wildly from the "curriculum" of C101, but I owe a lot of my recent success to you guys.
G+_Volkan Paksoy
If at some point you decide to switch to C# you'll find many similarities between the two and it will be a very smooth transition. So I don't think you deviated wildly.
