I must say, none of the Android tablets that have been announced at MWC13 so far have impressed me. They all seem to be fighting for the bottom of the market and that's just not very interesting. The only way to win in the low-price market is to compromise as much as you can without appearing to compromise. No thank you! How about something 7" with a full 1080p display? 1080p is becoming the new standard for high-end phones, why isn't it cropping up in more tablets?

Ironzey Lewis Some companies have already started making announcements. Unfortunately, I imagine that a lot of the Android powered devices are going to be low-end ones marketed for people in third-world countries. I'd like to see some innovation among the mainstream too. It's not enough for Apple and Samsung to be copying each other anymore. It gets boring after a while and I know I'm not alone when I say that it really sucks that the innovation has been weak over the past year among the mainstream / high-end mobile device form-factors.

Just curious, what kind of innovation are we talking about? Besides the 1080 screens what would you guys be happy with? It seems like that word gets used a lot when people really mean new features.  Going low cost is an innovation in itself.  The high end of the market is what gets all the oos and aahs but the low end is what can effect change in the way people use mobile tech.

Ironzey Lewis Personally, I'm just looking for incremental improvements, higher res display and latest generation processor while keeping battery life at least stable. I disagree with your statement that lower costs is an innovation. Shipping a lower cost tablet just takes time, prices constantly drop. It seems like many of the tablets that have been announced are just remakes of the Nexus7 chassis with the reduced prices that come naturally from being built a year later.

The one innovation that I really would like to see, but don't expect, is use of hybrid LCD + eInk displays. An extremely lower power, high contrast display seems like an attractive feature to me.
