G+_J. C. Moody, Sr.
Does anyone have a recommendation for legit, free (or paid) software that can restore photos on an Android phone after they were mistakenly deleted? I had a friend post on Facebook that she had mistakenly deleted an entire folder of photos on her Samsung Android phone. I asked her what kind of phone it was and she told me a Samsung 4G... facepalm I am assuming that her phone is actually either a GS4 or a GS5. Any help would be appreciated. :-)
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Unfortunately, there is no "recycle bin" on Android. Additionally, as time goes by, those areas on the drive will be overwritten, and the original data will be lost. Basically, you have to restore it immediately. Is there a chance they have AutoBackup enabled? I'm pretty sure Facebook has a similar feature (though the images are scaled and compressed), was that enabled? G+_Troy Whitaker
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I don't believe she had any kinds of autobackup to cloud services or otherwise. I know there is no easy solution like a recycle bin in Android, but I have found a number of programs online that claim to be able to restore deleted Android files. They all seem pretty sketchy. If it makes a difference, she made the accidental deletion within the last 24 hours, so perhaps all of the files have not yet been overwritten?? G+_Joseph Cappellino
There's a chance. Good luck!
G+_Jimmy Scott
I know data may be recovered even after restoring factory settings, but since I do not know how directly I did a Google search of "restore deleted files on android". There are a few results that look promising; however, I cannot give validity to any as not being some malware app for your computer. Sorry I cant be a more specific help. G+_Mark Stronge
Recuva on desktop works well, but check she might have google+ auto backup on or Dropbox or Facebook or mega or flickr - they all have auto backup features. If you do get them back, be sure and recommend g+ for backup.
G+_Speed20
If you have root access try disk digger it's a recovery tool I try once just playing around and it found tons of photos I never kept but had taken. The only issue was some photos were only half there the bottom half or top half was permanently gone. But like I said you will need root access to start. G+_Speed20
Sorry I only saw the first line of your post I didn't realize it was someone else's phone. I was just scrolling through me feed and it only showed first line of your question. Look luck in what ever path you take.
