G+_Troy Luchterhand
So I've decided to get a chrome book. I know there are a lot to choose but I'd like to stay right around the 300.00 mark and around a 12 inch display with 32 gigs of storage and at least 2 gigs of ram. Can anyone make any recommendations on which brand is worth getting? I'd really appreciate it.
G+_Joseph Cappellino
I'm partial to the HP Chromebook 14 (a little bigger display, but less storage). I'd also opt for the Walmart exclusive [1; 2: available on Amazon.com in White] which comes with 4GB RAM ($350 vs. $288). It's really light, and performs really well (I live streamed the I/O Keynote to a projector yesterday). That being said, the Acer C720 looks to be exactly what you're looking for [3: 4GB RAM; 4: 2GB RAM]. I would personally opt for the 4GB RAM (no matter which one you choose), as it will add longevity to your device. G+_Joseph Cappellino
UPDATE: The HP Chromebook is available on Woot! Factory reconditioned, but still comes with free 200MB/month of T-Mobile data. http://computers.woot.com/offers/hp-14-dual-core-chromebooks-w-free-4g
G+_Troy Luchterhand
I ended up ordering the HP 11.
G+_Troy Luchterhand
Do you know if it is possible to just add some ram to the HP 11? I have 4 gigs of ddr3 ram from my laptop. Would that work. I went with the HP 11 because the display is supposed to look good. The Acer c720 display had some bad reviews.
G+_Joseph Cappellino
I don't think so. Most of these are made to have the smallest form factor available, and soldering memory to the board helps that. You should be fine with 2GB.
G+_Troy Luchterhand
Cool. I mean I know what these machines are designed to do and that's all I expect out of it. I don't expect it to be a work horse, just run a browser.
