On the Ad Blocker segment where everyone was in agreement I propose a possible arguement (comment found in an androidpolice.com article by "efan" - http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/03/13/breaking-google-has-begun-purging-ad-blocking-apps-from-the-play-store/)

"you guys know that ad blocking applies to web browsing as well right? speeds up page loads. uses less data. very useful tools. not just for sticking it to developers. and not all apps even have a paid option and some paid options still have ads. so don't hate on ad blockers."

Just thought I'd bring up another viewpoint on this thing

I don't feel bad at all using an Ad Blocker.  In the entire history of the Internet I don't think I've ever clicked an ad.  If I want something, I do diligent research and buy from reputable companies, like New Egg or Amazon.  Seeing random ads for crappy apps or companies I've never heard of just doesn't work on me.  Now if REI was putting 20% off coupons in pop-up adds, maybe I'd change my tune.

I'm going to go with the All About Android crew on this one. I'll admit I've installed Ad blocker software because of the same reasons people have said above. Security, performance, and generally not wanting to look at the ads because they never get clicked on by me.  The reasons I uninstalled any instance of an ad blocker is I've got sprint and unlimited Data so, no need to worry about using more data.  The faster loading times are lost on sites that have content that the ad blocker considers something it needs to block and I'd turn it off anyways.  And as for the white listing sites I trust, well I realized any site or app I had ad blocker installed for, eithier it didn't work for it, OR it was a site that really didn't use ads wisely but overly placed them to make their money.  Solution was real easy, I visit, comment, and assist in funding via the ads, sites or apps that offer me a benefit and are like Jason Howell said small ads you really don't even know are there unless you are looking.

Also for those worried about the ads using up their data, if it is such a worthwhile app that you are going to use it to where it is polling that significantly, then pay for the paid version of the app if available and help the developer who worked hard on something you value.

I just wish there was an ad-blocker that would work on the Pandora ads.  I'm a married man (happily I might add), but every add on pandora is like, "Bang local chicks!" "Hook up now!"  I'm not sure if they're trying to make money off the ads, or just offend me so much I pay up to get rid of the half-nude chicks on my screen.
