G+_Ken H
Quick question for you all or for the T-Mobile G+ crew. My wife is looking to temporarily discontinue her prepaid coverage (she has the famous $30 plan) and may end up starting up again after the 90 period where the account is closed. She was told by the customer support number that if she starts the plan again after the 90 days that she would need a brand new SIM Card. I'm wondering if that part is really true or would she still be able to use the old SIM by just reactivating it in the same phone. To me it seems a bit strange that she'd need to purchase a new SIM card if it is the same prepaid plan on the same carrier with the same phone
G+_T-Mobile
Hi! Let us clarify! Since your wife is on the $30 monthly prepaid plan, the following would occur: Accounts in Not Paid status for 120 days are automatically changed to Pay As You Go. If no activity occurs during the next 30 days, the account is automatically deactivated. If the account was deactivated (after the 150 days), then not only would a new SIM need to be used, we also would not be able to guarantee she would be able to restore with the same $30 price plan (for example, if the plan was no longer available at time of restoration, she would not be grandfathered in due to the account's full deactivation. -Joshua
G+_James Heuer
Sounds like my experience with tmobile customer service. I wanted to switch from my free 200mb service I have for my tablet to a post paid plan. I was told by many reps and even by a tech support rep that I'd need a new SIM card. This was NOT true in any way. Then again, they also couldn't seem to comprehend that my Nexus 7 wasn't a phone either... ? Seems to me that tmobile seriously needs to educate their customer service reps.
G+_Paul Werner
T-Mobile thanks for the reply here. I didn't know about the extra time added but I did figure if the plan wasn't available she wouldn't be able to get that again. It still seems strange and a waste to just toss the old SIM out (even if it is just a tiny bit of plastic) but I guess you all have some reasoning for it. James Heuer when you said it was NOT true does that mean they still got you on to post paid using the same SIM you already had from the free 200mb? G+_James Heuer
Paul Werner In the end I discovered that tmobile couldn't even do what I'd intended and went elsewhere. But I wouldn't have needed a new SIM card per the supervisor that I eventually had to speak with to sort things out.
