G+_Steven Wang
I'm loving the new Google Photo's app, but now that I can upload my entire photo library to Google for free. I guess the question is. Should I upload my entire photo library? What are you thoughts?
G+_Brian Thomas
Mark Hanson We're on the same wave length here. Plus what happens when I need to retrieve them after a few years. I'll have over 50GB or more of photo's to download.
G+_Roy Hembree
I'm keeping my photos in Drive, where I can sort them into folders that work for me and allow family members editing access. Plus I don't need to download or display a jillion thumbnails when I know the folder I want. I've enabled Photos and Drive integration to get the face recognition search functionality. Really the only thing I lose is the location search functionality (the one based upon where a photo was taken).
G+_Barry Smith
My photos are uploaded here and to flikr, and stored local. Some of the things google auto awesome does makes it worth the upload effort.
G+_Phil Chung
I keep all my photos not taken on my phone in Drive and let all my phone photos auto backup to Photos. I also have Google Photos appear in Drive and vice versa. That way I have everything on Google plus my computer. And then I do another backup of my computer data. G+_Brian Thomas
So I have like 15 years of photos here. Is this something what your guys are doing? So far I've uploaded about 1 year and 1/2 of pictures taken from my phone that get pushed automatically, but I haven't fully committed, and for a reason. Security being one of them. G+_Ron Norgaard (Rmadball)
Aside from the paranoids I think you should. As far as the amount even if you wanted to re-download them again it wouldn't matter this day and age where most have decent fast internet. Also if you use there desktop app it will re-sync to your computer again in case of a disaster. Also I noticed that all the pics I already had on G+ are now in Drive and they organized them via year and sub-folder month. Makes it very easy to find what I'm looking for. Also just do a search for month or year and you find your pics that way as well. I for one am excited for the new Google Photo !!
G+_Brian Thomas
Ron Norgaard this is how I manage my photos now. Having a NAS is helpful, but expensive especially if you can get free unlimited storage. Well, at a price of giving up certain privacy rights.
G+_Brian Thomas
Great feedback!! Despite the feeling and reality of security issues and other unknown issues. We're still seeing an overwhelming vote on approving the notion of uploading, not some of you photo's, but your entire personal photo library. This is everything from weddings to vacations, funeral gatherings, proms, births, and anniversaries. I'm still a bit 50/50 on the choice, but the majority of votes is quite compelling. I would agree if we are going to do something like this. It would be good practice to still back up our photos via external HDD or some type of optical disk storage. Never put all of your eggs in one basket.
G+_Ron Norgaard (Rmadball)
I don't think they ever will. This is not beta but a full out service. If it was in beta then went into service I see them doing that. But, it's not so I don't think they ever will. They've actually said it's not there intention. but hey,, I'm a Google fan boy and love everything Google.

G+_Rich Fowler
I would wait before going all in with Google Photos. It sounded really cool at first, but now that I've already run into the 16 MP limit before uploading anything new, my excitement for Google Photos has cooled considerably. I never got the "free" offer, because I took some panoramas with my N5, so they broke the 16MP limit right off the bat. (With your phone, Google! WITH. YOUR. PHONE.) Now I have to figure out how to get them off of the service, and hope that Google stops eating into my Google Drive space every time I snap a photo. Yeah... can't say I'm too excited about that. Caveat emptor!
G+_Ron Norgaard (Rmadball)
Turn it off? LOL Just uninstall it. Use Flickr ?I'm still very happy with photos myself.
G+_L I
Only thing I'm concerned about is Google snatching face data.
G+_Gary Volk
I like the idea, but just tried it and I really don't want to reorganize 15 years of pictures!
G+_Brian Thomas
I haven't done it yet. I didn't get the impression that you need to organize anything. I thought the algorithm did it for you.
G+_Ron Norgaard (Rmadball)
it does. Look in Google Drive and you'll find a folder called Google Folder. It organizes via Year then month. That alone is wonderful. But then you can use search to find a pic. For example, Cats. All photos that you took with cats in them will show up. Mind you it's not perfect but hey it's Google they will get it more accurate in no time.
G+_Gary Volk
Brian Thomas its just one big flat view of all pictures. Still debating if I want to upload. Plus I am on Ubuntu, and there is no app so uploading is a folder at a time.
