G+_John “NotSo” Bright
What are your thoughts on the Sony Google TV device at $150? Yay or nay?
G+_Mark Rodriguez (ISTJ Ge
Tempting. Wasn't there something for $99 at some point? I'd have to revisit what Google TV does these days. Is it still under active development or is it a dying tech?
G+_Joseph Cappellino
I have it. It's great. I mostly use it for Plex and YouTube but can be used for a bunch more.
G+_Robert Carlos
Mark Rodriguez Vizio offers access at that price point, but I haven't heard great things about the device.
G+_Robert Carlos
Joseph Cappellino does it have access to Vudu and Amazon Instant Video?
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Amazon Instant Video, yes, but it's through the Web browser. So, it works, but awfully clunky. There is a native client for the new LG TVs that will hopefully be available for other devices soon. As far as Vudu, I'm not sure.
G+_Robert Carlos
I currently have a Roku, I just want to see what I'm missing out on.
G+_Mark Rodriguez (ISTJ Ge
Between my Rokus (2) and Boxee Box, I have most services covered. I have an Apple TV, but it is used the least right now. (Just cancelled DirecTV with wife approval!) Should be interesting w/ Netflix, Hulu, OTA, Amazon Prime. I heard a podcaster mention she uses a TiVo to search across services like this ---- not sure how fluid the experience is to say, "ok, I want to watch that on Hulu vs Amazon, etc."
G+_Robert Carlos
Mark Rodriguez I'd like to do the same, but I'm not sure how to get my local sports otherwise.
G+_Mark Rodriguez (ISTJ Ge
Robert Carlos Yup. has taken years for my wife to be somewhat okay with it, but it's a bill we don't need now. Assuming you can get to a point where you can cancel ESPN, it's all downhill easy after that. Also recently found out it is now cheaper to cancel the Comcast "cable" portion of our bill, while retaining the "internet" portion. (Previously, it was cheaper to keep both, so they could call me a subscriber, I suspect)
G+_Michael Watmough
I've got it. It's OK. Could be so much better, I can't seem to get Plex working very well but that could be my media centre PC.
G+_Robert Carlos
I use Plex on my roku. So far it doesn't seem like I'm missing much without it.
G+_Cindy Siebert
I probably wouldn't get it simply because I already have Roku and Apple TV (for airplay). Not sure that there is a need that a Google TV device would fill.
G+_Jason Turner
I'm holding out for #Ouya as it'll support android apps like plex and xbmc...plus I can use it with my vulkano streamer (like sling box)
G+_Ricky Cash
I use the Sony Google TV side by side with the Roku. I love them both and use them both daily. Direct access to Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant on the Roku and much better Plex .mkv support along with direct support for Youtube and integration with the Dish Network on the GTV make them a no compromise solution for my kind of TV usage.
