G+_Mike B
My Nexus 4 won't connect to the internet via wifi since updating to 4.3. I can connect to the wifi, but there is not internet connection. I've done everything I can think of with the phone and router settings, but no luck. Anyone know of a fix for this yet, or has Google mentioned anything about it?
G+_Marquis Moore
Scott Newbury to confirm the issue isn't with your home network have you tried a free public wifi access point at Starbucks or the library? If you still can't get Internet access try booting the phone in safe mode the test again. You can do that by long pressing on the "power off" menu then select safe mode. If the problem is a result of some app this process will tell you. If the Internet works in safe mode then you'll need to start removing recently installed apps since the problem started. Or you can do a factory reset to speed up the process. Good luck.
G+_Scott Newbury
Marquis Moore yeah, tried all of those things, it easily connects to the network, but will not access anything on the Internet.
G+_Marquis Moore
Hmm I have several friends and family that have the Nexus 4 on 4.3 and haven't had that issue nor have I heard of anything like that. It could be an hardware problem. The only other thing I can think of is to flash 4.2.x. I'm not sure if you're into that type of thing but if the problem was related to 4.3, going back to a prior version would confirm that. At this point I'm leaning towards a hardware problem. You probably still have some warranty left you can see if Google can do anything for you.
G+_Neil Sedlak
A Google search shows a number of hits. This one seems to list some potential fixes (note that it's for a related wifi reconnect issue, but users in the thread report "no internet" as well): http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=58230 So, seems like a known bug with various support communities available to track it. G+_Scott Newbury
I considered reflashing my phone to 4.2, but the link that Neil Sedlak gave came up with a solution! Comment #35 from the thread you gave me finally mentioned something I didn't try before - turn off battery life optimization when connected to wifi - and now it works! I guess we'll see how much it affects the battery life, but at least I'm not using all of my data! Thanks again guys!
G+_Neil Sedlak
Glad I stumbled upon the right link! It certainly sounds like Google needs to push a fix soon given how many complaints there are.
