G+_MicroHex
Hey everyone, Since data savings were a big topic on this week's show, and since I've switched to Project Fi recently, I have 2 more suggestions to go beyond using data compression in Google Chrome. First is Opera Max: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opera.max.global It works as a proxy between your phone and the web, and compresses all unencrypted connections to save you lots of data. It roughly saves me 50% on YouTube videos which is awesome. It does not mess with HTTPS connections, so all your banking is still as safe as ever. Give it a shot. Second is mobile Firefox: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox I love Google chrome on mobile, but Firefox now supports plugins on Android. This means you can finally install a proper mobile as blocker. I pay for Google contributor, and totally understand that websites need to make money, but I got sick of full screen takeover ads and auto playing videos, so the advertisers forced my hand. These two tools together allowed me to stay under 2 gigs of data for the month. Hopefully you guys find them useful too! Happy browsing. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opera.max.global
