G+_Mike Tsirigotis
Here's an ideal, it's kind of radical, but stick with me on it.... Why doesn't HTC (or any device manufacturer for that matter) run a kickstarter for a Nexus edition of the HTC One? We know that HTC has a stock ROM for the HTC One buried in it's developer labs. We know that this ROM is most likely not 100% public ready. It stands to reason then that there will be some expense on the part of HTC in prepping the ROM, packaging, and overall doing a run of Nexus HTC Ones. Given their supply chain issues, I have no doubt that it would be disruptive to switch. Aside from the corporate pride of HTC supporting SenseUI (and don't under estimate the destructive power of corporate pride, just look at what it's done to Apple over the last 2 years), the HTC executives that are left have to be looking at the Galaxy S4 Stock Android phone and trying to decide if it's worth the supply chain disruption and loss of face to switch gears. So why not use kickstarter or indiegogo to test if the market would support a Nexus HTC One. HTC could set their price per unit, and set a top end of the number of units they would need to sell to make the switch worth while. If they make their goal, we can get Senseless HTC Ones, if they fail to make their goal, both they and we are not out anything. Just a thought... G+_Lucas Nichols
They don't want one. They aren't as popular as u think. Carriers hate Em. Carriers don't want Em. Carriers make money off of their skyward and boatyard that they install. This is the reason they failed on Verizon and sprint. Too much hassle for carriers and oem's. Google really pushed for the nexus 4. Google subsidized it to make it cheaper. If vzw and sprint don't want it, they won't subsidize it. The main reason the nexus 4 was so popular was because it was cheap in the play store and u didn't need a contract. If it had been released like it is now on tmobile or cost $650 like other phones they wouldn't have sold half as many.
