G+_Mike Tsirigotis
More fun with Android 4.3 on my HTC One.... I confess, I loathe TV's in public places. I suppose this is due in some part to me having "cut the cord" more than a decade ago and given up on commercial television. While there are many positives to this lifestyle choice (not the least of which is having raised a child free from consumerism), there is sadly one strong side effect. I am now completely "sensitized" to TV images. I guess because I do not normally watch TV, the flashing lights and bright colors draw my eyes in like a moth to a flaming cash register and with so many TV's in bars and restaurants, this is really becoming a problem. When I'm out with friends sharing a meal, I am often distracted by laundry detergent and beer commercials rather than engaging in the polite and stimulating conversations. In an effort to preserve my friendships, for several years I have carried a hardware device called a "TV-b-gone" that cycled through the "off" IR codes for TVs at the touch of a button. Now, thanks to Android 4.3, I can do that same thing on my HTC One. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codisms.offButton

G+_McKinley Tabor
LOL, I like how you use the word "suffer" to describe not being able to watch TV in a public place. Your life must be very privileged. :-)

G+_Demond Rice
Your friendship is suffering because you can't stop looking at a commercial. That's your problem buddy.
G+_McKinley Tabor
I will concede that turning off a TV in a sports bar where there are dozen of people watching a game is rude and should not be done. But lets face it, when every restaurant these days has a dozen or more screens wasting electricity and annoying the patrons, turning them off is more like a public service. and I lied in my first post... i have no friends... G+_Erik Huntoon
You say the TVs are annoying the patrons, but lets face it.. the restaurants wouldn't have TVs if the majority of patrons didn't want them. I find myself somewhat drawn to a turned on TV at a restaurant, whether I want to or not, but the fact is, most people want it on. With all that said, I'd love this app just to mess around at Best Buy or similar stores \evil laugh
