G+_David Vanderstelt
Episode 293 and the ZTE Axon 7 hardware encryption Per my video mail at -- I guess I buried the lede in the email that I sent along with the video mail... Yes, the Axon 7 is hardware encrypted, but it is encrypted with a key ("default password") that you can't change. The encryption key is the same on all phones. So it's about as secure as a router with username admin, password admin that you can't change. That is... not secure at all. And it's completely different from the Nougat encryption situation. Don't let ZTE off the hook for this! It's really, really bad, and inexcusable that they haven't fixed it yet after multiple updates.
