G+_Craig Mullaney Posted May 5, 2014 Share Posted May 5, 2014 So any Android developers here know about the 'Read Google service configuration, Discover known accounts' permission (as displayed to user in Google Play)? I noticed this new addition to required permissions when I was about to update the ebay app. I created my ebay account on a PC in the traditional way of a username and password. I can't find any details on what the above permission actually allows the app to do but I'm guessing it can gain details of all the accounts on a device and therefore one of the id's or meta of those accounts being their email address for each one. Just wondered if my assumption was correct, do we only have the developers word that they're only querying accounts of their own type if their creating their own account type in the account manager for instance for a sync adapter? Tried contacting ebay but the response was clearly not from anyone responsible for their app as they made out it was something to do with Google and not them.
