G+_Brent Burnette
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10" that is to be given to a client, with the strict rule that it is to be used for Skype ONLY. I literally want it to be a UI that is one Skype app icon and nothing else (no system/settings access at all)...Allowing the client any access will mean certain tampering, which means I'll be on site to fix it daily. I've tried several apps (LOCKiosk, SureLock, Kiosk Browser, etc) to no avail. As always, I'd love a TOTALLY free app, but will pay if it's stable and makes the tablet legitimately locked down to JUST skype unless I enter the magic password. Any ideas? G+_Tyler Green
I use AppLock for a very similar reason. I'm very happy with the results.
G+_Tyler Green
I actually use it combined with Big Launcher and it's a fantastic combination.
G+_Brent Burnette
Thanks for the recommendations! Are these totally free or on a trial basis?
G+_Brent Burnette
Just found a fatal flaw in AppLock... you can uninstall the app (even with Install/Uninstall locked), therefore bypassing all security setup
G+_Tyler Green
Use a custom launcher so they are not able to see it in the app drawer. Use nova launcher and delete the app drawer icon from the home screen. Have only your Skype icon on the home screen.
G+_Xerxes H
Have a look at Perfect App Lock ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.morrison.applock). Make sure you add it as a device manager and add the uninstall protection. Its always been rock solid on my machines.
G+_Tyler Green
Also to take mine a step further-this was my original setup before going to big launcher. -install app lock -install Nova launcher -install giganticon -delete all shortcuts on main screen -use giganticon to have one big Skype button and that is it. -This method fairly effectively locked down a device quite effectively for me. G+_Brent Burnette
I was able to achieve what I was looking for...ended up with SureLock Kiosk Lockdown, and purchased their Premium upgrade...The tablet is now completely locked down from the user without a combination of knock pattern and then custom passcode.
