I find listening to the very American perspective of tech journalism on TWIT and the attitude towards the international market as very dismissive.

Whenever the international domination of Android is brought up, the topic is dismissed as "lots of poor people buying Android phones".

This perspective is crazy especially as we don't have crazy carrier restrictions.  Carriers are secondary to the phone hardware itself (which was hilariously brought up as disruptive for the US market).

People consciously buy expensive Android phones which are price at the same point as iPhones or higher, owning an iPhone here doesn't mean you have money, it's just another flagship phone and I see maybe 1 - 3 iPhone 6 or 6+ phones on my commute to work in the city.  Anyone who's using an iPhone tends to still be on a 4S with a few sprinkles of 5's, everyone else is on Android phones.

Normal people choose Android phones over iPhones on choice alone not price.  It's about as confusing to purchase as a TV or microwave.  Normal people can deal with different brands and features in many devices, phones are no different.  Also no one uses iMessage or Facetime outside of North America.

I completely appreciate your perspective on this cause, I'd agree, we have a tendency to end up in the "our experience defines our perspective" zone.

Truth be told, it's tough for me to work myself out of that. I try to have a more world conscious perspective but so much of my experience doing shows on Android is derived from my own personal experiences and that is absolutely drawn from our immediate geography.

And THIS is why I love our community, cause these are all valid points and I will include this in the next show. Because YOU bring the perspective that we can miss. So thank you for that.

I agree To some extent, i think the customization approach is useful here like airbnb, uber, business initiative. Why Would companies tell customers what to buy when customers say what they want all the time. That is why we transform average people into GODS/THOSE WHO EXCEL AT IMMERSING PEOPLE IN

THE EXPERIENCE.

iPhones dominate not only the American market but also the American media who mostly seem to not know anything about Android features, capabilities, or indeed protections from malware. It's why so many hit pieces targeting Android go unchallenged.

That, and this response from Jason Howell, is why I love AAA.

I'm from the uk but vacationing in Canada at the moment. I've been amazed because I've not seen a phone or tablet that's not apple (I lie a friend had a blackberry from work, his personal phone is an iPhone) contrary to Richard 's experience I've seen many esoteric android phones in the UK including high end big brand phones and high spec but cheep imports. I've spoken to people with android phones that don't really know what they have, who have chosen them for looks, specs, cost, screen size, I've met nexus owners with no clue how to properly use their phone but bought it because they knew android was Google so they many as well have a Google android! I've met proud iPhone owners, very proud of the great deal they got, totally unaware they're actually using android! Even so I would say that iPhone is around 40 percent of what I see and, although I love the show, I do agree with the OP.
