If you are using VoIP service on a Wifi outside of the USA and have issues then use a VPN redirect services like Bear Tunnel and use an USA server. This will redirect your connection services through an USA server so that it looks like you are in the USA. Only need to do this if you have problems using VoIP outside of the USA.

FYI - Using VoIP outside the USA on a cellular data service can cost you lots of money. Outside of the USA try to use Wifi only. If need to use cellular data service outside of the USA best to buy a prepaid phone SIM card from that country.

Please be mindful of the data usage caps and per minute data usage costs (if any) that you have with that cellular data service. ?

Steve LeMoine I didn't But basically the highest unlimited data plan is truly 4G/LTE, high speed, unlimited. The lower priced "unlimited" plans by common sense would tell you there is a catch and not truly unlimited as the highest price Unlimited 4G plan. That was my point on that part.

The no contract plans and buying the device in full price/bring your own device plans are much the same as long as you don't buy the device in payments. And you get more support from the second option too. As well as the pricing are basically the same. Like I pay the same $70.00 for the same service as the no contract plan that you are talking about.

But the point is not to go for the lower priced "unlimited" plans. Because you will be throttle after X amount of data. It is the "4G" in the $70.00 plan that explains that you get 4G/LTE unlimited data service.

Now with that plan you truly get unlimited calls/texting within the USA too. So there is no savings in using VoIP to make/receive calls from/to USA just to save money..

I already explain the in & outs of using VoIP from/to outside of USA and calling from/to outside of the USA using VoIP to save money. So no need to say more here.

Kevin Spitzer right VOIP only makes sense if you have a limited talk minutes like me.  I only have 100 minutes of talk so I need a voip solution if I want to have a long conversation.  BTW, no issues with call quality using Talkatone through the weekend.  Even received calls from people calling my Google Voice.  My data plan is unlimited but they throttle me at 5GB.  I may try out pocketcasts since I stream a lot of shows via Stitcher Radio .

Frank Pigeon  What do you really save in doing this? Saving little money and yet costing you so much cellular data usage that you end up curving other cellular data usage, like streaming. To me that is not truly saving. You just cut into some things (talk as much as you like/need on your cellular line, streaming through your cellular data, headroom in 4G/LTE data usage, etc.) just to save on another thing (little bit of money). Not to mention of the trouble of setting up Google Voice, Skype, etc. to forward calls to multiple numbers so that you receive the calls no matter what, making sure that you turn off cellular radios when you are in WiFi or setup Tasker app to do this (so you don't receive calls through cellular radio while using VoIP on WiFi to receive/make calls), making sure that you have good WiFi services (for VoIP calling), etc. This is lots of work just to save so little money. If time is worth money then you are losing lots of money here.

At one time, when I was with Verizon Wireless, I was going to do this. But when I tried it I found that it was more trouble than it was worth. It did work, but I found myself forgetting to do this (especially when receiving calls) and ran up the bill anyway. I found that unlimited 4G/LTE and unlimited calls/texts ($70) was and is the best option (one of several reasons that I moved to T-Mobile). And with me saved money.

Just my opinion from my experience in trying to do the same thing you are trying to do.?
