G+_Michael Shalkey
Here are my Tasker Profiles: 1 - Silence at night except if my wife calls 2 - Bluetooth On with Power 3 - Bluetooth of with no power unless currently paired to a device 4 - No Rotation (certain apps I don't want to rotate the screen) 5 - Quite at work when connected to work wifi 6 - My company requires PIN security on phone if you have company email, so I have a task that bypasses that when you boot up the phone. 7 - If I miss a call while driving it texts people "I'm going XX MPH. It's not safe to answer your call!" - My wife hates this one.
G+_Dave Bach
I had to chuckle. So is that first one for when you're out with your mistress or do one of you work third shift??
G+_Brian Bishop
Yep. Up until recently, did Satellite operations. Lots of weird shifts.
G+_Corey Fields
Is Tasker really as complicated as the reviews say it is?
G+_Craig Lambert
Corey Fields It can be. It's logic based and actually feels a little bit like programming. You'll need to learn it most likely, but it's not overly complicated. Some of the tasks and profiles can get complicated but I rely on others and just import those. :) The Tasker community (the is/was a Google Group) has been really helpful to me in the past. G+_Brian Bishop
If you've never done very basic programming, like understand IF/THEN statements, it could be complicated. You can find some good tutorials online that help explain it. Plus like Craig said, the Google Group is helpful.
G+_Jim Cullen
6 - My company requires PIN security on phone if you have company email, so I have a task that bypasses that when you boot up the phone. Do I understand this correctly? You are required to have a PIN by the company you work for, but you use Tasker to bypass that, allowing you to use your phone/company email without entering a PIN? Is that not risky at all, if you were to get caught?
G+_Brian Bishop
All I have is my academic email synced to the phone, so if someone wants to know my grades, more power to them. I'm still required to follow policy however, but since I don't have any company info on the phone, I don't feel bad about it. Neither my laptop or desktop are required to have screen saver passwords, so the policy is inconsistent at best.
G+_Jim Cullen
Haha yeah, I wasn't trying to criticise you for doing it, I figured you probably know what you're doing. I just thought that if they noticed what you're doing that could cause trouble.
