G+_Patrick Barker
OK, I'm on Verizon and today I dropped my Galaxy Nexus and broke the screen. I can still use it and I'm not due for an upgrade until 10/2013. I hate the thought of going 9+ months with this screen. What are my options? As much as I wish it wasn't so, price is a factor. I'd like to replace the phone, but it looks like if you can find it the GNex it will run 500-600 bucks (remember, no upgrade option). I briefly looked into replacing the screen and that looks like $250 or so..... Anybody out there have any other cheaper/better options. I like the Nexus aspect of the phone, even though Verizon sucks with timely upgrades to the OS. While I haven't rooted and ROM'd before I'd be willing to try it in order to get me through to my upgrade date (i.e. I'd buy a cheaper phone and put JB on it)....Any help would be much appreciated! G+_Corey Fields
Google and Verizon are not good friends and they've discontinued the Galaxy Nexus, so I hear. You might get lucky and find a certified pre-owned still for sale on Verizon's website. Otherwise, if you're sold on Nexus devices, you might want to get an unlocked one from another source or switch networks.
G+_Bradley Chasse
$250 for replacing a screen? I can't imagine that. I would look into doing it yourself or a much cheaper service. 8 months isn't bad.. can't you get a $50 used android phone?
G+_Jon Hope
Patrick Quirke great suggestion unfortunately the Nexus is a gsm phone which won't work with Verizon. My advice pay the fee to break your contract and go to a cheaper gsm carrier. Then you can buy an unlocked Nexus phone when it does go on sale.
