G+_Jess Newcomb
Spent over 2 hrs on the phone with their tech support for nothing. Now waiting 24 to 48 hrs for an escalated response

G+_Paul Werner
I found this suggestion on another post here on G+. Try this, hopefully it helps out. I don't have my Nexus 5 yet but made note of this if it were to happen to me when I receive it: "Settings / Apps / All tab / Google Search / Clear Data" which didn't fix it but it brought back the Google Now on/off switch in the Settings page (long press home / Settings / Google Now). When I tried to switch it on yesterday I did get the network error, when I tried the same just now it started working.
G+_Jess Newcomb
Paul Werner did that multiple times. When I open settings it says now is loading and notifications are loading but that is as far as it gets. Little infinitely spinning ball.

G+_Paul Werner
Oh one other thing from that other post. The guy having the issue said if they logged in on their girlfriend's Google account on the same phone then Google Now would load. When he switched back to his own it stopped working again. Not sure how that would help you but I'm just putting it out there.

G+_Paul Werner
Not sure if you're still working on this issue but I did find this when looking it up. This is how someone I follow in G+ fixed their Google Now issue: "Had to unlock and root, uninstall Search 3.0 with Titanium, which is also the launcher at this point, install Search 2.6, activate Google Now, then re-install Search 3.0 EDIT: if anyone needs to do this, remember to install a different launcher like Nova first or you're screwed"
G+_Jess Newcomb
Paul Werner still dealing with it but not prepared to root a phone days old and voiding the warranty. Thank you for the info, I did see that thread and corresponded with Giuseppe
