G+_Tom Gehrke
Better Android Cameras I'm gathering that it's not the cameras that will get better, but the app itself. The Google camera app is miserable, IMO. If you know me, you know I like taking the pictures. The problem is that if I only have my phone with me, I've gotten to the point where I have to decide just how badly I want to take a shot. It takes forever to spin the app up so I miss opportunities and focus is a crap shoot. I've found alternative cameras that are better (current favorite is Camera FV-5 - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro&hl=en), but this is a feature that I think is consumer focused. Having a "normy" search for a camera replacement right away instead of having something reliable is a problem. So this is all good news as far as I'm concerned. Plus... RAW image support? YES, PLEASE! http://gigaom.com/2013/11/18/android-cameras-could-get-much-better-with-new-api-featuring-raw-image-support/

G+_Tom Gehrke
Hasanul Banna Siam So I've heard. :) I considered Camera Awesome (even before it was an Arena pick) and it's very specific hardware support turned me off. It's one thing to say "this app only works on this hardware", but they're also saying "it may work on your hardware, but you might not get all of the features". $3 isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it's more than I want to spend when I don't even have a clear idea of what it is I'm buying. For instance, I have an S3 and I see a note for Camera Awesome that says "Tap exposure points are not supported by Samsung devices or the Motorola Moto X." That's one key feature that I don't get. What else isn't for me? They almost need to include a pivot chart with handset on one axis and feature on the other. Plus the fact that they include an iPhone related pull quote to include in the Play store is kind of irksome. ;) But if you've got the right hardware and the features you are getting work for you, Camera Awesome definitely looks like a great alternative to the "native" app.
G+_James Heuer
The camera is the area where android phones seem to lag behind the most. This can only be a step in the right direction.
