If you didn't keep the device password in a password database (and there really is no need to since you can easily make another) just be sure to be logged into your Google settings on another machine to create a new device password after reset. Then revoke the old one. That's really at there is to it. Set authenticator up per instructions in the app after you put the new device password into the phone and get your apps and such installed.

The only thing to be careful of is be sure you trust a computer for X days or have an alternate device to do 2 factor in case you get logged out before authenticator is set up on the phone again. You can add voice numbers or text numbers as backup as well, or even print out emergency recovery passwords. Whatever way, just be sure the phone you are wiping isn't the only way back in your account! ?

Good catch remembering to check before doing the factory reset!

When you set up two step you were given ten (10) one-time only codes just in case your authenticator was not accessible. Just use one of those codes if you can't get in after the reset.

Make sure you cross that code off the list as used.

If you didn't print that list, I believe you can access it from a trusted device considering you are logged in.

Another option, get a new list of one-time use codes. Just make sure to print that and keep it safe.

And of course, another option is go in and turn off two step verification before doing the reset. After you are reset, then simply turn two step back on and set it up fresh. Again remember to print the list of codes for those just in case moments.
