G+_Jakub Baczynski
Hey AAA crew Jason Howell Ron Richards Gina Trapani I'd really like to hear what Gina's comments are on this article, and how google is abandoning open source android app by app. It's funny, I always thought of google making these apps available on the play store as a great thing for Android overall. But it essentially makes them unavailable to anyone not running a google approved version. G+_Joseph Cappellino
It is a great thing for Android overall, as most devices run A Google Experience device. And even those that do not can sideload these apps if not locked down. Where it's bad is for the developers that use AOSP as their base. If Google keeps these new apps in sync their AOSP counterparts (i.e. - release them in the Play Store with a different package name only), then all is well. Also, like any other 3rd party developer, they have created their own brand, and would like that brand on as many devices as possible. This may actually make the OEM's skins become better as they are now competing with Google to keep users in their apps and not Google's . ?
