I have bought a Tesco Hudl, which for all intents and purposes is a 16GB Kindle HD but that runs stock Android. Very impressive piece of Kit.

However, it runs stock 4.2.2 and I have 5 home screens, only 3 of which are populated. So, I want to remove the blank screens.

I've been trying to do that for an hour now; pinching the screen to get the windows display to edit doesn't work. Holding down the blank screen gives an option to change the wallpaper from one of three sources only. Pressing the home key as some Samsung users report doesn't work.

The only suggestion is allegation that stock Android can't remove blank home screens, and to use something like Novo Launcher instead. I can't believe Google would leave such a basic UI task out of Stock Android - or have they?

Len Edgerly This post has info you may find interesting. Ian Waring I think the answer you seek would have to be found in a forum, or shared by someone with exactly the same setup, if it isn't obvious in settings. I read about the Hudl and it seemed Tesco was changing it from stock, if only by pre-loading Apps.

I do know that on the "Kindle Kindle" the only launcher that is said to work without root is ADW. Shouldn't matter on the Hudl, but ADW is nice. Apex and Nova are very similar. Both have advantages over stock and offer control stock doesn't.?

Tesco have left it as stock but added a few widgets and some extra apps for their own TV/Movie Service. And there is one [T] button in the left of the back/home/apps bar that throws up a "Tesco World" shopping app, but which can be left like any other Android app.

The stock launcher is still as broken as Google left it, though.
