Hello guys, I'm recently very very interested in everything Google: Android because of the Nexus 5 and Chrome since it's been my default browser for years and earlier this year I purchased a Chromebook.

I don't own a Nexus 5 yet but I may get one relatively soon. (Had to make some friends in the US since the thing is not shipping to Mexico yet...).

One topic I would like to discuss you all, Android Masters, is Android updates in Nexus devices.

Does Google pushes the latest release of Android to most of the previous generations of the Google Nexus phones?

I've been looking around and found out that KitKat is available in the Nexus 5 and Nexus 4. But what about older generations? Any anecdotes?

I come from the Apple side of the house where the iOS 7 can be installed in the iPhone 4 (released in 2010). The Galaxy Nexus (released in 2011) will not receive KitKat.

I also stumbled across the referenced article confirming this last piece of news. And I don't feel very good about it.

Personally I prefer not to change my phone for relatively long time while it works well. According to the article with a Nexus phone I would only get a year and a half and then be abandoned.

Any feelings or comments are welcome!

Just an extra detail: buying high end cellphones in Mexico even with contract is very expensive. This is another reason why I like to keep my phone as long as it continues to serve well.

Congratulations on your big healthy community!
