G+_Joe Walker
Hmmm.. Thoughts on this? http://techaeris.com/2015/09/07/dont-fingerprint-scanner-phone-app-lock-finger-print-covered/?utm_source=SocialWarfare&utm_medium=GooglePlus&utm_campaign=SocialWarfare
G+_Jaz
Interesting concept, the set up sounds rather tedious though. Then there is the actual application, how long does it take for the camera to focus and process the image before unlocking the app? Is that faster than entering a pattern or 4 digit number? I haven't tried anything like this yet, but would be interested to hear from those that have. I knowingly bought a phone without the fingerprint scanner. It wasn't really a feature I was crazy about. G+_Jamie-Lee McLean-Davis
I actually use it all the time (FP Scanner on my S6) - Mainly because I don't want to enter in a password every-time. (It's a work device which requires to be locked at all times). I also have a few other devices, I think I might try it out to see how it works..Whenever I am able.. G+_Jaz
Jamie-Lee McLean-Davis? have you heard of the court ruling in VA that allowed law enforcement to use a man's fingerprints to unlock his phone? Police can't make you enter a passcode but can have you use your fingerprint. What are your thoughts on that? I wonder how an app like this would factor into a situation like that. G+_Jamie-Lee McLean-Davis
Luckily, in Canada, we don't need to worry about that. With that said, I believe that a warrant is needed before entering into anyone's personal belongings, including his/her phone. My views on that does not change on the type of authentication used. G+_Jaz
Jamie-Lee McLean-Davis? I found the whole thing absurd. The man was accused of domestic violence and taking video footage. Yes, I completely agree that it should be handed over, but using a phones fingerprint scanner and making him use it is a bit much. But back to the actual app, it would be interesting to hear some reviews on how it works out for people. I've got the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, so it doesn't have the FPS. I have always been used to entering pin numbers so I stuck with that. I don't even do the pattern. Seems too easy for someone to remember.
G+_Jamie-Lee McLean-Davis
Jas A I have a Moto G (2015) I was testing for work, I'm going to install it on there and try it out for a few days... Lets see how it does!

G+_Jeff Fox
Jas A it is nasically the same as a key to a lock. You physically have it vs something you know. A court order can compell you to "turn over" a physical item but can not compell you to reveal a password/combo as it could be considered to self incrimination. G+_Jaz
Jeff Fox? correct, I read that and I did understand how they came to that conclusion. It's the same as using a strand of hair or giving a blood sample. I still don't like the whole idea of having someone use my body part to unlock an electronic device to gain access to private information. It just doesn't sit right with me.
